Meredith’s journey began at age five, in Toronto, and by the time her family relocated to Los Angeles a few years later, she was training pre-professionally and starting to carve her own path.
During her teens, Meredith choreographed several productions, and led title-winning competitive teams. She even enlisted her high school principal to help design the earliest version of what we now know as Independent PE - just so she could dance more. After earning her BA from UCLA, Meredith faced a choice: continue down the academic path or pursue coaching. She chose to build something of her own. In 2002, she opened Got Rhythm Dance, which continues to serve Ventura County today. Meredith’s story is about resilience, adaptability, and creating environments where people discover confidence and character through movement. Two years ago, her work was nationally recognized when Got Rhythm received a LegalZoom Small Business Award for its vision, innovation, and impact on the community. Whether mentoring a child stepping on to stage for the first time or guiding teams to build stronger connections, Meredith brings the same philosophy: growth comes from leaning into challenge, and leadership is built by helping others shine. |
"I was always shy and withdrawn, but Meredith and Got Rhythm has helped me become more outspoken. I also have an easier time making friends. Now these skills are helping me become more willing to go out and experience life instead of spending months researching a place I'd like to see or an activity I want to try. Because of the courage I've built through dancing at Got Rhythm I've seen 18 countries that I might have otherwise missed. I'm now comfortable with who I am, and with being uncomfortable enough to keep growing and improving myself."
Jayson R. (Adult Student) "Meredith’s passion and joy combined with technical skill I am not qualified to understand has given me an epic experience."
Naima C. “I was super shy as a kid, and I see a lot of the same in my girls. Their first performance, I was almost sure they wouldn’t even stand up on the stage. They were both very nervous, but had a great time and were very proud of themselves. It was great to see them grow, and be brave and strong, and have fun at the same time. Performing has definitely given them lots of confidence, and it makes me proud to see them do something I couldn’t.”
